15 Seconds of Fame – TV Interview

My husband bought a new car yesterday evening via the “cash for clunkers” program. While he was there, the local news station showed up and interviewed him and another guy. It was fun to see his face on the news last night, where they broadcast the actual interview with him. He did a great job in front of the camera.

This morning, the news station did a revised broadcast and it just shows him at the dealership ... no speaking part. I've attached the link to the video broadcast below. My husband is the one in the black shirt. Our “clunker” was the green van, and his new car is the red Scion. At one point, it shows my husband talking on his cell phone ... he’s talking to me, giving me directions on how to get to the dealership to sign the papers. I, too, was on the news .... but only from afar and am not in this particular clip. I literally stayed away from the camera man. I hadn’t planned on going to the dealership with my hubby as I was knee deep in cooking and chores. He called and asked me to meet him there to sign over the title and get my name on his new car. So I rushed down there with my hair askew, minimal make up, and overall looking like I belong standing over a cauldron. Doesn’t it always happen that the news crew wants to film you when you don’t look your best!!

Here’s the clip: KGW News Look for Mr. Its All Gouda in the black shirt. That’s my guy.

Well, the clip now doesn't interview Mr. Gouda, and you aren't even in the background! The real question is whether Mr. Gouda Jr. will fit in that car, or whether Mom is about to be relegated to the back seat!

Hi Marjie! Ha! Not only does Jr.'s legs and size 14 feet fit in the back seat, but he does so comfortably. This car is so roomy inside I can't believe it. I got in the car, got back out and looked at it's size, and then got back in shaking my head. It's like something from the Jetson's ... small on the outside, but huge inside. All three kids fit comfortably in the back seat. Hubby has driven a truck for years, so this is his first car since the little 2 seater sporty thing he got right after we were married. I only had two requirements for this car ... a) that it be an automatic, and b) that even though this is his commute car, every one needs to fit in it as a second vehicle. He did good! Of course ... I still drive my minivan! :-)

Oh one more thing, my hubby, who is 6'4.5" fits with not only enough leg room, but also head room. We looked at Prius's, which get awesome gas mileage, but a) my husband doesn't fit (his head hits the interior roof), and b) my son doesn't fit in the back seat at all. This red puppy works great!

Cute hubbyman Paula! You were about 5 miles away from me! You will love that Scion, my in-laws have one and they adore it. I love the color too!

Hi Paula....we had a green van too! Glad that one's gone. We've had a Highlander hybrid & it's great. Too bad about the Prius. That scion looks so cute! Can't believe it has so much room. My son wants one - he's got some time; he's 14. We like to count those "box cars" whenever we see them on the road. Like the color!

A green van, huh?
Somehow, I pictured the "Goudas" driving about in some other fine automobile... something Swiss, perhaps?

OK -- enough with the bad jokes. It's so very nice to meet you, Mr. Gouda. And that's a very snazzy new car you've got there. :)

Congrats on the new car! How fun... I enjoyed watching the news clip and am getting a kick out of how many people were using the cash for clunkers. I am happy to see how many families it has helped out. I did notice that there was an crazy story below about a grandma attacking a report with a hoe, so I definitely need to go check that out too! ah, drama...
Congrats again!
